Death Victims Due to Alcoholism in Jakarta Increased to 10 People

Harian id. Jakarta, the death toll after consuming liquor (alcoholic drinks) in the type of ginseng in East Jakarta increased. Previously reportedly eight people died after drinking alcohol.

East Jakarta Police Chief Tony Surya Putra said the death toll from consuming ginseng alcohol is currently increasing to ten people. They come from different regions namely Duren Sawit, Pulogadung and Cipinang.

The ten victims were initialed HD (19), R (39), DK (21), RP (28), AR (21), Y, FF, EY (56), and AH (27). They were treated in three different hospitals, namely Pondok Kopi Islamic Hospital, Friendship Hospital, and Duren Sawit Hospital and Duren Sawit Health Center.


"The ten victims were from several locations, died in three hospitals," Tony said at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters, Wednesday (4/4).



Tony said the police had arrested the opaque ginseng alcohol seller, and were named as suspects.

A number of liquor sellers were also raided by the police. However, Tony said he would pursue the supplier of alcoholic ginseng.

"So, our target is not just street drinks, we target suppliers, distributors. Last night we went to several street vendors even though with the incident last night many were closed," Tony said.
